Whether you are writing a children's story, your bio, a cookbook, a romance or a thriller, it is important to get your facts right. Personally, I have spent hours researching a bit of history, making sure a date is correct, the spelling of a name... you know, all those things that, if correct, no one necessarily notices, but if wrong...you will hear about it! I like research, but not everyone does. Just remember, it is important and adds to your credibility. Just for fun, today, August 24, happens to be the day, in 1812, that the British burned the White House. It is the day, 30 years ago, that Hurricane Andrew hit, and in 2006, poor little Pluto was demoted. It is also National Peach Pie Day, National Waffle Day and International Strange Music Day. So, research, learn, have fun and keep writing!
