Well, yes...the most obvious subject, but how could I ignore one of our most popular holidays? Of course we immediately think of Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, H.P. Lovecraft, Shirley Jackson...Peter Straub, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice...Stephen King! It's a long list, and many writers are intrigued by the idea of penning a darn scary story. So, if you are inspired by the idea of frightening your readers, making them sleep with the light on, do give it a try. I personally love an intellectual thriller, my own mystery novels tend to be "mild" compared to gory horror, but there's room for everyone. So tap into your Hitchcock just for fun.
